The Sound Of Music, this movie was constantly playing in our household. The reason being, I watched it almost everyday as I came home from Pre-School, then Kindergarten and even in my early Elementary years. Since homework was non existent, I got home and put the tape in my VCR (back in the day when VCRs were used J) and ate my afternoon snack in front of the tv.
As I watched I would learn all the lyrics to the songs and sing along. This was a movie that changed my life because it’s a symbol for the special time my grandfather and I shared as he watched along with me. It was important to me not because of how well it was produced or who acted or directed in it.
The plot was a bit complicated when I watched it at a young age. What I interpreted then was a woman named Maria teaching children how to sing and dance not knowing what was behind the scenes of singing and laughter. My favourite part of all was the scene where they put on a puppet show. I recall acting it out and pretending to work puppets like they did. I’ve added a clip below and hopefully, you’ll enjoy it as much as I do!
