Are You Man Enough To Say It?

Over the March Break, (aside from brutally training four hours a day 8-)), a couple of friends and I were impatiently waiting for the movie "I Love You, Man" to premiere in Toronto. However, when it did come out, we hit the theatres ASAP. The reason we're fussing over this one comedy was because most of us were Huge Jason Segel fans (Sydney Fife) due to "How I Met Your Mother", big Rashida Jones fans (Zooey) because of "The Office" and pretty big SNL fanatics (for Andy Samburg)

The characters played in this movie were outrageous, Sydney Fife with his ridiculous attire, awkward haircut, UGGS on the beach with that hideous gray cardigan. He's signifigantly taller than the rest of the cast and most of the people on the set, this gave him a dangerous appeal with a hilarious personality!
Peter Klaven, played by Paul Rudd, was constantly in character as he was the "boyfriend guy" and didn't have any male friends since childhood. He acted as if he has never socialized with other men before, and always thought about the dilemma of not having a best man for his wedding. Struggling to get through "man-dates" to make friends before his big day kept the movie entertaining and upbeat.

"If you see a cool looking guy, strike up a conversation and ask him on a man-date."

Although my overall opinion of this movie was a hit, I feel that there could've been a better choice in casting. For example, i feel that Rashida Jones's character Zooey had a very bland personality which didn't fit with the appearance of Rashida. This also wasn't a very challenging role giving her minimum space for individuality.
Also, I felt that Paul Rudd, Peter, was a miscast because he did not deliver to the standards of the main male character. The spotlight and viewer's attention was easily given to any other supporting character and did not focus on himself.

So if you're looking for a light movie and good laugh, I highly recommend watching I Love You Man. Perfect for a casual date or just as an example of todays well written comedies.

My Rating: 8.5/10
